Bio
Hilda was born and raised in Mexico City, where she earned a BA in communications and got her start in the film industry. Her passion for film took her to Los Angeles where she earned a MFA in Cinematography at The American Film Institute (AFI).
Early in her career, the Academy of Television Art and Sciences (ATAS) honored Hilda with a student Emmy for the film “A Piece of Earth” which also competed and won first place in several international film festivals and was an official selection in competition at the coveted “Camerimage”: the Festival of the Art of Cinematography in Poland.
The International Cinematographers Guild (ICG) has similarly recognized Hilda’s exceptional talent by awarding her 2 Emerging Cinematographers Awards (ECA) for her projects “La Primavera” and “A Piece of Earth”. Hilda is a versatile Cinematographer who’s credits span over feature films, commercials, documentaries and television series.
She’s bilingual and has shot around the globe in places like China, Kuwait, Uganda, Portugal, Bahamas, South Africa, Panama, Costa Rica, Mexico and of course the United States.
Her work can be seen on major services like Netflix, Fox, Amazon, Apple TV, and Peacock.
Recently, she completed principal photography on the Apple TV Studios’ original series – “The last days of Ptolemy Grey” – with Samuel L Jackson and Dominique Fishback and can currently watch her lensed limited series “A Friend of the Family” streaming on PeacockTV-Universal with radiating performances by Mackenna Grace, Colin Hanks, Anna Paquin and Jake Lacy.
Additionally, she’s a member of the Mexican Society of Cinematographers (AMC), IATSE Local 600, and the film union -STPyC in Mexico.
She shares her knowledge by mentoring and teaching seminars and workshops.
Hilda is currently based in Atlanta. When not shooting, she’s an avid cook who loves hiking, plants, yoga, street photography and pampering her Chyna- the cutest Shi Tzu you have seen.
